Kitchen Tip: Bagel Chips

In the refrigerator the other day I found myself face to face with a beautiful bag of bagels that were, unfortunately, not tender to the touch.  I had but one thing in mind. Slice those babies thin and bake ‘em into crispy submission!

When confronted with old and hard bagels, I make Bagel Chips!

Slice bagels very thin. This is easiest when they are good and stale.

Brush lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt & seasonings.

Substitute butter or olive oil non-stick spray.

Place slices on a rack or foil lined pan.

Broil on low 1-2 minutes or until golden, flipping once.

Use this technique for other stale baked goods to make croutons and crustini.
